Workflow

Keep source content controlled through release.

Authors, reviewers and publishers work with the same source history. Validation and workflow controls help keep an unresolved issue from becoming a released publication.

  1. Author

Create data modules and publication modules using the project’s schema, business rules and applicability data.

  2. Review

Check content, resolve references and route changes through the appropriate reviewers and approvers.

  3. Release

Release controlled source content and hand a validated package to Arkitect for publication.

Capabilities

Author the content. Govern the changes.

Structured S1000D editing

Work with data modules, publication modules and common information repository content. The editor follows the content structure defined by the applicable S1000D schema.

Schema and BREX validation

Validate content at check-in and key workflow transitions. Schema, business-rule and reference findings can prevent content from advancing until they are resolved.

Applicability in context

Maintain ACT, CCT and PCT data modules and apply the conditions defined for the project. Authoring and publishing use the same applicability evaluator.

Controlled versions and workflow

Keep committed versions, manage check-out locks and track review decisions. Role-based transitions and audit history record how content moved from draft to release.

Illustrations and hotspots

Work with CGM and SVG illustrations alongside the source content. Create and maintain hotspots, with stale hotspots identified when the underlying drawing changes.

Exchange with other CSDBs

Import and export S1000D Data Dispatch Note packages. Keep supplier baselines separately addressable from local changes when revised content arrives.

Supplier content

Keep incoming data and local changes traceable.

Technical publications teams often maintain content supplied by other organizations. Syntaxis retains the received source and records local changes against that baseline.

When a new supplier package arrives, the team can review what changed and how it affects the local content. Applicability conflicts can be reviewed as governed decisions rather than hidden edits to upstream XML.

Within NIVOMAX

Source authoring, followed by publication.

Syntaxis manages controlled source content. Arkitect processes that content into the signed libraries used by Horizon. Teams can also exchange supported packages with other CSDB systems.

Practical questions

Frequently asked questions

Do we need Syntaxis to use NIVOMAX?

Syntaxis is optional. Arkitect can publish supported source content from other authoring and CSDB systems. Add Syntaxis when your organization needs authoring and source-content governance within NIVOMAX.

Can we exchange content with a partner CSDB?

Syntaxis supports S1000D Data Dispatch Note packages in both directions. The exchange convention and project rules need to be agreed with the partner organization.

Can we keep supplier source separate from local changes?

Syntaxis retains incoming supplier source and records local changes against that baseline. When revised supplier content arrives, the team can review its effect on the local version.

How is Syntaxis licensed?

Syntaxis is licensed separately as an optional application within a NIVOMAX installation. Contact Synaxiom to review the author, reviewer and approver requirements for your organization.
