Shared fleet devices

FleetPass

Assign publication access to the shared device.

FleetPass lets fleet managers enroll Horizon devices, assign libraries for a defined lease period and manage those assignments in Axis. Crew members use a local PIN or one-time code without individual NIVOMAX accounts.

For operators using shared or rotating devices, the crews who use them, and fleet and technical-publications managers.

Shared fleet devices
  1. Manager in Axis

  3. Local crew access
Conceptual workflow illustration.

Make shared-device access an explicit managed state.

A fleet manager enrolls the device, assigns its libraries and defines the period of access. Device-based assignments and ordinary person-based activation can coexist in the same installation.

The manager authenticates through the installation’s configured identity services. Crew members access the managed device locally. The fleet manager’s license pool provides the publication data licenses used by those assignments.

Capabilities

What FleetPass adds.

Managed enrollment

Place a device into managed mode and set it up for local crew access. Return it to ordinary sign-in and person-based activation when managed use ends.

Library leases

Assign libraries for a defined period by aircraft, device or crew group. Manage assignment, extension and reclaim through Axis when devices are connected.

Applicability-based content

Assign the publications applicable to the aircraft the device supports, drawing from the fleet manager’s data-license pool.

Offline access and recovery

Let the device use its issued lease while offline. A device- and lease-specific break-glass code supports emergency extension, with the device reporting that use after reconnection.

Operational visibility

Review devices, leases, library assignments and last-seen status in Axis. Reconcile returning device activity with the authoritative issuing records.

Working sequence

Manage the lease, then reconcile the returning device.

  1. Enroll and assign

The fleet manager places the device in managed mode and issues its library assignments and lease.

  2. Use the shared device

Crew members use local verification and access the assigned libraries within the lease window, including offline.

  3. Reconnect and reconcile

Connected devices receive management changes and report recorded activity, including any break-glass use.

Optional FleetPass additions

Two separately licensed FleetPass packs.

Compliance Pack

Adds device, lease and content-access records, evidence exports for review and ramp-check output available from the device. Requires FleetPass.

Operations Pack

Adds managed-device controls such as training gates, procedures, notice read receipts and device-posture checks. Learning-system integration must be scoped to the supported interfaces. Requires FleetPass.

Before configuration

Define shared-device operation and emergency access.

  • License Vigilance Sentinel and the Horizon deliveries used on managed devices.
  • Nominate fleet managers with Axis accounts and the publication licenses they will assign.
  • Choose the local verification method, break-glass handling policy, library storage and a way for devices to reconnect periodically.
Optional, separately licensed extension module

Keep the module, packs and publication licenses distinct.

FleetPass is licensed separately and requires Vigilance Sentinel. The Compliance Pack and Operations Pack are separately licensed additions to FleetPass, rather than additional standard modules in the eight-module catalog.

Managed devices use publication licenses from the fleet manager’s pool. FleetPass changes how those licenses are assigned and used. Lease and emergency-access planning must account for devices that stay offline and report later.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does each crew member need a NIVOMAX account?

Crew members using a managed device use its configured local PIN or one-time code. Fleet managers have accounts and manage assignments in Axis.

Does a change in Axis reach an offline device immediately?

An offline device operates with the lease and security information it already holds. Connected management changes and reconciliation occur when it returns to connectivity.

Do the FleetPass packs replace Vigilance Compliance or Watcher?

The FleetPass packs add capabilities for managed-device operation. Vigilance Compliance remains the entitlement-recertification module and Vigilance Watcher the platform access-evidence module. They are distinct products.
